3DGeo Inc is a rapidly growing technology leader of Seismic Imaging services, Software Solutions and Commercial Software Development in the Oil and Gas Exploration Industry. We are seeking high energy, team-oriented, motivated geophysicists to help us grow our velocity estimation team.
The candidate will work under the supervision of senior personnel and gain responsibilities commensurate with background and abilities. Excellent communication and writing skills will be required for article publishing, presentations at conferences, client interaction and management reporting. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a team, and to direct the work of others, as it is envisioned that this position will evolve to include supervision of support staff and management of product lines.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with lead of the velocity estimation team to define goals and scope of research projects.
- Developing seismic processing software, with emphasis on velocity estimation.
- Proposing new research directions for the development of next generations processing tools.
- Accessing feasibility based on user needs and company strategic directions.
- Interacting with the user-base to report and propose enhancements to the software.
- Presenting technical papers at conferences, to customers and to internal users.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
MS or PhD in geophysics, or closely related field.
5+ years experience in development of seismic processing software.
Detailed knowledge of geophysical concepts, three-dimensional seismic processing and imaging techniques, and knowledge of parallel programming.
Detailed knowledge of tomography, inversion techniques, and other velocity estimation techniques.
Experience developing applications on a Linux cluster environment.
Experience in design, development and deployment of velocity analysis and seismic imaging applications using parallel computation is highly desired.
Detailed knowledge of C and/or Fortran is required.
Experience in working with a product development team in an agile software development environment

Minimum
qualifications include an MS in geophysics, or closely

interns will work under the supervision of senior scientists
and will have the opportunity to take on tasks commensurate
with their background and abilities. The interns will gain
valuable work experience while contributing to a scientific
development project and learning about applied geophysics.
Qualifications
include enrollment in an undergraduate computer science, engineering,
or science curriculum, and programming experience. Some of
the skills we look for in a successful candidate are experience
programming in C, Fortran, and Java on Unix/Linux based workstations,
object oriented design, and graphics user interface design.
Course work in mathematics and physical science is essential,
and knowledge of seismic processing and imaging methods is
a plus.
The student must be a
